about us

To uplift the oppressed, exploited and marginalized members of society through economic, education and social programs.

Founded in 2004 with Bylaws and Constitution registered in 2006, the Missionaries of Hope (MOH) is a Roman Catholic organization committed to the upliftment of the oppressed, exploited, and marginalized members of society through economic, education, and social programs. It was founded by Fr. Joseph Nisari, a Roman Catholic priest, who was born in Pajian, Pakistan. (See “ABOUT US” for a biography of Fr. Joseph).

The term Missionaries of Hope imply holistic and integrated development of the entire person: mind, body, and spirit. MOH believes that poverty stands in the way of individuals and communities from discovering their full potential and worth given to them by God and from experiencing His love and Grace in its fullness.

MOH specially focuses its attention on oppressed sections of society living in slums, villages and small towns, including bonded labor, ostracized women and neglected children in a predominantly Muslim society.  It works toward their release from economic, social, and spiritual shackles that enslave them. Education is the key to spiritual growth, personal development, financial stability, and community stability.

MOH is led by a group of responsible leaders motivated by a Christian mandate and are committed to the poor and oppressed section of Pakistani society. Board members and staff uphold professionalism and biblical stewardship of all human and financial resources. Spiritual accountability is the fundamental guiding principle for all MOH ministry and programs.

MOH schools are run by professional leaders who serve on the school board and oversee teachers and staff at the Jesus, Mary, and Joseph School in Pajian. The organization’s policy and administrative board of directors, headquartered in Texas, consists of clergy, professionals, and laypersons.

MOH is a fully operational IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization in the USA. All contributions are tax exempt.

Fr. Joseph Nisari, Missionaries of Hope founder and current Chancellor, was born in Pajian, Pakistan. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1968 and eventually came to the United States where he served in various capacities from New York to Texas. With family and friends still back in Pakistan, Fr. Joseph had a keen desire to help the people in his country of origin. He believes that education is the key for overcoming ignorance, prejudice, discrimination, and poverty. Consequently, he established the Jesus, Mary, and Joseph School in Pajian.

Fr. Joseph’s biography of his amazing life is detailed in the Eye of the Sparrow by Rosemary Colgrove, 2010, Mill City Press, Minneapolis. The book may be ordered simply by pressing the book order on this website.
